Jacquelyn, I’m so psyched you’ve stopped by.  I know you’re in the thick of your brand new deliciously sensual World of Nightwalkers series.  For those not familiar with the series would you explain a bit more about it?

The Nightwalkers are breeds that live in the night. Some you already know, some you don’t, and everything you’ve heard is probably just a bit off center from the normal mythology for any given creature/species. This new series adds more breeds to the previous series. I’m giving you a dissatisfying answer, perhaps, but I’m trying to stay hush hush in certain measure until the release because I want everyone to enjoy seeing it unfold and all the surprises as genuinely as possible.

Do you remember where you were when you first thought up the The World of Nightwalkers series?

Umm…I believe I was signing my new contract with Random House. ;) Hehehe.

You write a few different genres under a couple different names.  Is there one genre that you like writing more than the other? Which one? Why?

I most enjoy the paranormal romance, whatever you use to define it. I define it as beings not human finding love with humans and/or other beings!

I know that you put your own blood, sweat and tears into every page.  So, I’m curious to know if your characters have any of your own traits.  Is there one character you think is more like you than any other?

They all have represented aspects of my as I’ve grown and changed throughout the years. I started out as Bella, and ended up more like Jasmine. Oh, hey…! =)

If you could be from The World of Nightwalkers who would you be? Why?

I think I’d like to be a Djynn. (Oh SNAP! I just said something! Damn it. I have to keep my mouth shut!) Or…erm…fongers still. Whatever.

For those of us just tuning in would you mind sharing what a Bodywalker is?  What exactly is their job or jobs?

Bodywalkers are souls that live immortal lives…by sharing the same body with a human host. Their jobs vary in their world just like ours do. (ACK! I did it again! Stop asking me this stuff!)

What was it about the Egyptian lore that drew you to set The Nightwalkers series there?

I’ve always been fascinated by Cleopatra and Moses and all those sweeping stories. It was such a dangerous life…exciting and dangerous.

Jacqueline, could you share with us a bit more about Ram and Docia‘s story, FORBIDDEN?

Um. No. You have to pick up the book and read it. I’m not telling you anything else! I mean it this time! I’m not telling you about the part where Ram is protecting Docia because she’s the new incarnation of his best friend’s (and pharaoh’s!) beloved queen. I’m not telling you ANYTHING about how feeling lust toward her is way seriously forbidden. Mostly because the Pharaoh would kill him…best friend notwithstanding.

What was your premise for writing this story?

I just wondered one day why we only have one soul. Why not two? Or three. Then I was like oh hey!....and then I was like, maybe that explains Dissociative Identity Disorder…and oh wait, what if…

Ha! Not telling. Too bad for you!

I would like to take this moment to thank Ram and Docia for Dropping by with Jacquelyn.  Hi, guys (waves her hand back and forth above the crowded room.)  I’m really excited you were able to spare some time and drop by.  I know a lot of people were thrilled to see you guys walk into the crowded room.  Jacquelyn, hope you don’t mind me snagging them away for a moment.

Guys, I am so excited I have this opportunity to ask you some need-to-know questions. I always like to know what peoples’ very first thought was when they meet.  Here we go. Docia, first thought that ran through your mind when you saw Ram? Go!

Oh. Look. A crazed lunatic kidnapper.

Your turn Ram.  The first thought that popped into your mind when you saw Docia? go!

I was just wondering why my queen would choose someone so…

DOCIA BREAKS IN: Hey! You better think before uttering another word!

RAM: So wonderfully beautiful and sweetly refined.

Docia huffs: Oh like they can’t see that for a lie.

Do you guys have a lust or love thing going on? (Cue music of Me and Mrs. Jones by award-winning artist Billy Paul) ;)

Docia: LUST
Ram: Or that’s how it starts anyway…

Docia, was there one thing about Ram that claimed your heart? Or told you, “Yeah, girl, grab him.  He is soooooo mine."?

DOCIA: Buns of steel baby. Just look at all that manly manliness!

How about you, Ram?  (Cue the classic Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson classic The Girl Is Mine starts to play as the crowd goes wild) When did you know Docia was your “it girl”?

It had to be the minute I saw her in that too-small jacket looking so fragile and battered…

Being Bodywalkers, do you find it has it advantages?  What are they?  Any disadvantages?

Advantage: Living forever. Disadvantage: Living forever. Immortality comes with a lot of heartaches, a lot of watching those you love age and die away…

How does your Egyptian ancestry play into you two, Ram and Docia, finally getting together?

It’s everything because without certain ancient rituals, the Bodywalkers wouldn’t even exist.

How do you think humans would react if they knew Bodywalkers were walking, talking and living right next door to them?

DOCIA: They’d go run out for kindling and a BIIIIG stake.

What would you like people who are reading this interview to know and learn about Nightwalkers and Bodywalkers?

There are many layers to what you are about to see and experience. Each story we share will peel back a layer.

Thanks guys for sharing.

Now lets get back to Jacquelyn.

Wow, Jacquelyn, you have some really cool characters.

When you wrapped up with them and typed THE END of FORBIDDEN’s transcript, what did you do to celebrate.

Umm. Candy. Maybe some Ben and Jerry’s. No wonder my ass is spreading.

When your reader closes the covers of FORBIDDEN what do you hope they take away from it?

I want to get the next book and pay Jacki’s mortgage right away!” Hehehe.

When that fleeting free time comes your way what do you like to do?  Are there any authors you would recommend to readers until we have the next The World of Nightwalkers release in our hands?

I am totally addicted to Facebook games ATM. I am woefully out of touch with who is currently hot in the genre, but I always love Emma Holly or Kresley Cole.

Where can we connect with you on the great wide web?

Jacquelyn it was an amazing and colossal blast to the tenth power having you stop by today.  Thank you for dropping by and shooting the breeze about your latest paranormal romance FORBIDDEN, being released by Random House. It was so exciting getting to know more about Ram and Docia and their Nightwalker world.  I cannot wait to visit again and again.

Overview

From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes this first book in The World of the Nightwalkers—an exciting and sensual new spin-off series in which the Bodywalkers, an ancient race of the night, battles the evil forces who prey on them.

The unexpected happens in an instant. On her way to work, secretary Docia Waverley hurtles into a crashing crossroads, and she quickly begins to suspect that things will never be the same. Then, when a tall, blond, muscular stranger intervenes on her behalf, telling her it is his duty to protect her at all cost, what is just a feeling turns to proof positive. That is, as long as Docia’s savior doesn’t turn out to be a crazed kidnapper.

When Ram finds Docia, he has no doubt that she is his queen. But as this golden warrior sweeps in to protect her, he feels something more than body heat every time they touch. He is overwhelmed by a searing connection that goes deep into the twin souls inside him. A desire rises in him that is forbidden—this woman is his queen, the mate of his king, his leader, his best friend. And yet Docia is so vulnerable and attractive that she awakens a hunger in Ram that is undeniable, a carnal craving he cannot yield to . . . not without risking the very survival of the Bodywalkers.

I have read all the Nightwalkers books except Adam. I'd recommend these books because the world building is so amazing, I always get lost in it. And I always fall for the characters of each story! I love living in fantasy-land.

I would recommend the whole series. I could not put it down. I love Jacob's book the best. Its where we are introduced to this world by falling out a window.

I would ask Jacquelyn does she have a favorite book of this series?

I've read all the Nightwalker and Shadowdweller books. I'd recommend all of them. The characters are great, and their interactions with each other are well-developed and appealing.

jmcgaugh said...

Jaquelyn, do you intend to write any more Shadowdweller books? Their society is very intriguing.
