Do You Want To Know a Secret?
To judge by the multitude of tell-all books published today, it’s tempting to conclude that our fascination with fallen celebrities is a recent affliction. It isn’t. The famous Regency courtesan Harriet Wilson not only published the memoirs of her sexual affairs to great success, her claims were also challenged openly by a rival in Confessions of Julia Johnstone: written by herself in contradiction to the fables of Harriet Wilson. No matter the cause of their competition, the truth is that when a courtesan approached the end of her career, publishing her racy memoirs could provide her with a source of income that might keep her in old age. Not all arranged love affairs ended with the protector providing his mistress with a pension. Although some aristocrats eventually married their mistresses, a happily-ever-after was not the usual outcome of these relationships.
The heroine in The Mistress Memoirs, Kate Walcott, works as a governess for a courtesan of modest success, Georgette Lawson. It was Georgette who saved Kate from lapsing into a life of sin when all other options seemed lost to her. The two women decide that Georgette could make a fortune off her memoirs. Because Georgette is learning-disabled, Kate ghostwrites her mistress’s recollections of her past liaisons. It isn’t the life Kate envisioned for herself. But at least she has managed to establish order in Georgette’s household—up until the night that the gentlemen who broke Georgette’s heart returns and stirs up mayhem as only a Boscastle can.
How do you feel about reading tell-all books? Do they turn you off or intrigue you? Do you find yourself flipping through the pages of the tabloids when you’re in line at the grocery store? Why do we forgive some self-admitted sinners and hold others accountable?

beguiles readers once again with a new series of sensual intrigue and exquisite
surprises....
Disgraced by her past employer, young governess Kate Walcott
owes her loyalty to the only woman willing to hire her—the sought-after
courtesan Mrs. Georgette Lawson. Georgette entrusts Kate with the care of her
unruly children—and the writing of her shocking memoirs, which detail her
affairs with famous gentlemen, including the rakehell who promised to marry
her, then ruined her.
Sir Colin Boscastle intended to keep his promise to
Georgette—until his father was murdered. Thirteen years of chasing vengeance
pass before he returns to find Georgette sleeping in his enemy’s bed. Revenge
has destroyed their romance, but the two former lovers agree to set a trap to
restore Colin’s honor.
Caught in this deadly game, Kate struggles to resist Colin’s
virile charm. She knows he is a born heartbreaker and unreliable rogue. Should
she believe him when he whispers that, for her, he will change his sinful ways?

Thanks for coming Jillian. This book is going to have lots of DRAMA~ Especially when Colin has promised to wed Georgette but Kate is in the middle of it all. Wow~, you that's going to be a great book. I can't wait for it.

I'm happy that you invited me! I hope you enjoy the characters. I had a great time writing this triangle!
Ah the fascination with the rich and famous. Funny to think that it was going on way back when too!
Triangle huh?? Sounds fun.

Nowadays you don't even have to read tell-all books since so much of the information is given out in the media. I don't know that I have ever read one of them. I prefer romances.

I enjoy biographies, but I'm not interested enough in celebrity gossip to buy it. You're right, Maureen. You don't have to look far to find it, even if you don't want to know!
I'd really love to read it! :)

I should mention that I have a contest going on Facebook with several other wonderful authors for an iPad Mini, and another contest on my website!
Ironically while I don't like reading "tell-all" tabloid type stories about celebrities I do like reading them in fictional books!
I think part of it is that today it seems that celebrities often use that outlet to try to future their careers and publicist to get their articles published and makes me uncomfortable reading about it.
On the other hand when I read about a fictional book like The Mistress Memoirs I want to run out and pick up the book immediately!
Double standard, definitely! Unique to me? Probably not.
Jeanne, I know what you're saying. It's one thing to read fictional characters behaving badly, but it's another when they're "telling" secrets about another person for profit. To me that isn't a fun read. But in a novel almost anything goes!
